Margiela under the creative direction of John Galliano is different yet has Martin Margiela's aesthetic of avant garde. Both of them knew what fashion should be. But Martin cannot be compared to John as they are individual with different vision with the house. So, John gets what commercialism is. You can in his collections every season how he transforms the house into next level which to embrace whoever can understand him and his collection. It is young, wearable and a fashion will be forever in one's closet.

It 's ideal of sustainability, hidden messages and so on that associated with the house. It maybe odd looking yet made a mark. It can be trashy but high fashion. This is why Margiela is incomparable to other luxury brands or maisons. It never eat a plain egg but experiments with what's available that can sustain a whole.
